Okuma's Makaira Special Edition is the "gun smoke" special edition version of this top of the range bait reel! This series of reels represents the maximum expression of Okuma technologies and offers maximum performance, with perfect sizes for Trolling and Tuna Drifting! All sizes are at double speed, so as to guarantee safe fights even with very important prey. The double-force carbonite drag maximizes performance, efficiency and overall smoothness. MACHINED RIGID FRAME 
Okuma's machined rigid frame construction features a one-piece machined all-aluminum frame. These rigid aluminum frames are the ultimate in precision alignment and tolerances with higher pressure than any other material used.

T-BAR KNOB
The patented T-knob design offers an ergonomically correct angle to ensure maximum power with minimum fatigue. The T-knob takes full advantage of the natural dynamics of the human hand, wrist and forearm to help support the power and endurance of the wearer.

2-SPEED GEARING
Okuma dual-speed technology features two sets of stainless steel main gears and pinions, allowing for the option of either a high-speed or low-speed gear ratio for maximum power. To change the speed just press the side button on the handle.

LEVER DRAG DUAL FORCE DRAG
For maximum strength, smoothness and power, Makaira drag are designed with the patented "Dual Force Drag" system. This drag system is specially designed to be mounted on the right side of the spool, keeping all mechanical mechanisms in precise alignment, without exerting any pressure on the frame. This system works in conjunction with a custom designed thrust bearing, which relieves lateral load under heavy stress.

HELICAL CUT GEARING
Makaira lever drag reels utilize helical cut main and pinion gears. This process allows for improved gear meshing which equates to improved gear smoothness. The angled teeth found in helical cut gears engage more gradually than straight cut or spur gear teeth. This allows helical gears to run smoother and quieter compared to spur gears. Spur gears cause impact stress and noise, because of the hard meshing and can not take as much torque as helical gears because their teeth are receiving impact blows as they mesh together.

SILENT ANTI-REVERSE
Makaira's anti-reverse system offers a smoother, quieter feel, unlike any other double speed reel on the market. In this way the reel spins smoothly and, when stopped, makes no noise.

CRC
The corrosion resistant coating combines Okuma's HDG-II gear system, which offers exceptional anti-corrosion properties compared to standard gears, with a Corrosion X HD coating on all internal and external parts. The CRC process actually penetrates and binds to the metal, which significantly helps towards long-term protection.
