Deps's Sliding Jig it has been studied to obtain a particularly realistic and natural action. The shape of the head recalls the keel of a boat, and this allows it to swing sideways if resting on a stony bottom, imitating a shrimp intent on hiding in the rocks. In the case of a sandy bottom, the head of the Sliding Jig "cuts" the bottom, raising continuous clouds of material, and this particularly attracts the bass. The eyelet in this case is positioned above the head of the jig, so as to accommodate the bait in its lateral oscillations, this peculiarity makes it often effective even near artificial structures, such as bridge pilings.
